This is quite the counterpoint to my fancy-schmancy AMEX Delta Reserve, but we recently bought a vacation home in Port Charlotte FL, 11 miles from Punta Gorda Airport. The ONLY airline that flies direct from CVG-PGD is, you guessed it, Allegiant. I applied for, and got an immediate approval for $3500. There's also a 12 month 0% BT offer and 15,000 Allegiant points if I spend $1000 within 60 days.
I will also have to reassess the annual fees on the Delta Reserve and Delta Platinum AMEXs, since we'll be doing a lot more flights with Allegiant and a lot less on Delta CVG-TPA than in the past, when we vacationed in Siesta Key and rented a car. Now we have a car at the house and the Uber ride from Tampa or Sarasota to Port Charlotte would be a big bite in the wallet, so Punta Gorda it is.
