This board has helped me in so many ways! When I first found myFico I had over 14 collections and my fico score was 480! No positive credit history 
After rebuilding and getting all the collections deleted, I basically had limited credit with only my student loans on my credit report. I couldn't get approved for anything. (Not even a Capitol One secured card).
I finally was able to get approved in June 2012 for a BofA secured (300 CL). I used it for gas once a month and paid it off in full immediately after. 9 months later it graduated but the CL stayed the same. Today, I got brave and decided to ask for a product change to the travel awards and for a CLI and was approved for the 3500 I asked for!!!!!
