I finally got around to going into a Bank of America branch to couple my ML Edge with a deposit account required to join "Preferred Rewards".
Approved yesterday for $20k SL & $6k cash limit, appeared online early this morning.
Standard bonuses as currently shown at BofA site (0% 18/mo xfer, 3% xfer fee & $200 for $1k/90 days), 17.74% APR after into rate.
A few DP:
HP on Experion only (FL)
3pt reduction on EX FICO8 for the HP
$100 Deposit into Checking to kick on PR boosts, effective immediately so SUB req will earn max CB.
..no other CRA reactions yet, but imagine something will occur once the new account propagates on the reports.
DP UPDATE: TL;DR -- DP = don't activate on the website or via phone before you have the card.
Well... being a BofA newb I see "Activate Card" on the website. I found no real explanation within the help beyond the obvious. I considered that maybe it was a way to use the card before it physically arrived, but wanted to call for clarification.
..robo phone, brain cramp (not stating 'representative') I respond 'card activation' as if it would query me further about if I wanted to activate or had an issue, etc. WRONG
Website states at one place about a method to lock the card, no such option in card security (yet?), just 'activate card'.
Called to ask about locking the card and they want to verify the CVV number, lovely.
I explain the reality and offered to regurgitate the 'secret word' for verification and that was apparently insufficient or mainly related to the deposit account. (?) The CSR isn't able to access my CC account without the CVV and tells me about going to a branch office with 2 forms of ID to verify myself, and lift the 'suspicious activity' lock on the card.
Got done what I wanted, but a bit disappointed I complicated matters. On the plus side, all else is fine with other accounts, just the card + ID thing.
Congratulations on your BofA approval and nice SL !
Congrats on the Unlimited Cash Rewards Approval!
Good deal that you finally got around to it. Congratulations on the BofA Unlimited Cash Rewards Approval!
Congrats. Great card and great SL.
congrats on the approval
Thanks!
It seemed like the time.
I flushed out idle cash from 5/3rd that maintained the "Preferred" status, which makes the two cards from them more useful.
It'll take a little time to adjust the CB from 2% down to 5/3rd% but want to be ready with a decent catch-all.
If 5/3rd would at least have a 4.5% or better CD I'd have left it alone, I do like the bank and the extras for the preferred are decent enough (free small SD box, cashier's checks and some other stuff), but not worth the lost $4500+ annually.
Congratulations on your BofA Unlimited Cash Rewards card approval, @DONZI!
BofA's cards are exceptionally competitive once you get into the Preferred Rewards tiers! Enjoy!
Congratulations on your BofA approval!
Congrats on your new BoA card
