So, I decided to apply for the amazon instead of the freedom.... got the dreaded message and called.... of course, it was denied due to one colleciton on my report... she said that's the only reason that's keeping her from approving my app... ... so disappointed as I know my EX score is my highest score..... should I call again??? any other backdoor that might work???

How recent was the collection? What type of collection was it? Was there a particular reason why the bill didn't get taken care of (think delay in insurance claim)?
I would call the backdoor number and recon.

it was a collection from 2006... it was from a student loan for $660 that I didn't have any knowledge about and I told her I'm pursuing a debt validation... she said it was a high collection but I just don't get it.. I have a Charged off from HSBC from 2008 for $300 ... and of course tons of inquiries that she didn't mention...
2nd recon, still no go.....

I was approved for the Southwest Chase Visa back in April with 4 charge offs reporting (one was paid, two were still reporting a balance). They were all 5+ years old and 3 have since fallen off, one will be gone next spring. I also had several accounts that were 4+ years old with perfect history reporting at the time though.
I also have two plain old collections reporting that are due to come off in 2013/2014 - both unpaid.
Of course this was for a different Chase card, and they pulled TU for me not EX.
I applied for the Chase Freedom in January and was denied due to a collection I had reporting at the time. No other baddies, score was 670, and I had two positve accounts reporting (Macy's and Cap One). About two weeks later, I was able to get the Collection removed because it was past the 7 years, as soon as I got confirmation that it was off my credit report, I called Chase again for a recon. She denied me again for the same reason and I explained to her that it was removed and that she must have been checking an old report. She put me on hold, came back and said the magic words "Your approved!" And get this....still only ONE inquiry. So I don't know how they verified that the collection was gone. Try it again after you get the collection taken care of. You'll be a shoe in!

Well if the one collection is paid and the other charge off is paid...I'd send a good will letter to see if theyll remove them a bit early.
I did that last month and got a response two weeks ago from the chief executive stating he will look into it and then got another letter from him two days ago saying since they sold the account to the CA, he can't do anything to remove it... ... guess my chances for freedom is very slim.... to.... none...
