Hello everyone,
So I took a risk and applied for a Chase Freedom Unlimited and was denied. The reason was for a past BK about 4 years ago. (2017 Sept) I called the recon and was approved after about 20 minutes for $2k (I was surprised and happy!). My question is: Will or can future credit card applications to Chase to be denied because of the BK again, or am I back in good standings with Chase?

Congrats on the approval!

I have no answers, but many questions. Latest information says what happened, just doesn't happen anymore.
For several years there was no soup for anyone with BK reporting.
Was Chase IIB?
BK7 or 13?
What scores and inqs will you share?
Chase was IIB. The reason why I decided to take the risk was because I read an article somewhere that Chase was offering forgiveness for accounts in BK, even ones that had thiers IIB because of current situations like COVID. I burned them for about $6k. I called up the recon, and the person told me that the program was only for Canadian customers, but he still reviewed my file and listen to my story. He put me on hold like 4 times. Anyhow, my current scores are around 670-680 across all 3. I had a BK7. I tried the same thing with BOA and AMEX and was flatout denied by AMEX. BoA, I almost felt like I was going to get them back, but to no avail.

Thank you, congratulations, and best wishes in your future endeavors.
Congrats on your Chase/Recon approval 🥳
Congratulations on your Chase approval!!
Congrats on your Chase Freedom Unlimited approval

I don't know anything about Chase, but banks tend to look at existing relationships, so there's a good chance you've gotten your foot in the door. Congrats!
