Hello MyFico community,
On October 1 I applied online and was approved for the Chase Sapphire Preferred. I wanted to get it while the 100,000 point SUB is still in effect, and since I have auto + home insurance + property taxes coming due before the end of the year, it's the best time of the year for me to get the $4k spend in to earn the SUB.
This is my third Chase card, as I also have an Amazon Prime Visa since 2018 and a Freedom Unlimited since 2019.
Here's the vital stats/DPs on my approval:
I cold applied (no prequal/preapproval) and was instantly approved on 10/1.
I received the lowest APR of 15.99%, and a starting line of $12,000 (I was expecting maybe $5-8K tops based on my existing limits so I was floored by this). I'll probably request they move some of this to my CFU in a few weeks.
They pulled EX and EQ, which seems to be the two bureaus they have always pulled when I've applied in the past.
My EX FICO was 823 at time of approval (resulting inquiry dropped my score 3 pts). I don't have a way to get my EQ FICO presently without paying for it. TU FICO is 833, but they didn't pull them.
This is my first app/hard pull in 26 months, so I had no inquiries at time of app. I was at 0/24, and am 1/24 now.
I was AZEO with <1% aggregate reported utilization, and 0 balances on my other Chase cards (well, one had a balance but a payment pending to pay it to $0)
Income is a little over $90k/year.
I'm excited, but have a tiny bit of remorse, mainly because this is my first card with an annual fee, and I wonder if I'll be able to put it to good use to make it worthwhile. I don't travel a whole lot (especially now with the pandemic). I figure I'll give it a couple years, and then change/downgrade/close it if I find I'm not using it enough. At this point, once I reach my SUB spend I'll keep this card in my sock drawer, just using it for dining once in a while, until I'm ready to travel again.
So anyway, now that I have this cool card (well, once it shows up in the mail), I have some questions:
1. I read that Chase has a tracker online to show SUB spend progress and the deadline to reach the SUB. I'm not finding this on mine, in the UR dashboard, or any place. Does it not show up until I put some transactions on the card, or after the first statement cut? There's no mention of any bonus anywhere on the UR pages or on the account info pages.
2. Is it 3 months to reach the SUB or 90 days? The website says 3 months, and I presume it's from approval date, so since I was approved on 10/1, I have until 1/1/22 to reach my SUB spend?
3. Although I have no UR points on the CSP yet, until I receive the card and put some spend on it, I have a bunch of UR points on my CFU. If I wanted to use these points to book travel, does the multiplier always apply because I hold a CSP, or do I have to move my CFU's points over to the CSP to get the multiplier on those points?
4. Chase seems to be pushing their "shop with Chase" feature with emails, after I was approved. Does anyone use this, and is it worthwhile?
Thanks...
Congratulations on your Chase approval!!
Congrats on your approval there. To answer your questions...
1. If it hasn't yet it show on the UR main home page for the CSP card. Direct link should be this one. Again, make sure you're viewing the CSP and not your Amazon or Unlimited cards. Should show both a progress bar and amount need to reach the SUB
2. 90 days. The signup bonus tracker should tell you the date you need to reach to earn the SUB
3. You have to move your CFU points over to the CSP to take advantage of the 1.25x multiplier for Chase travel
4. It's worth while if the categories match what you want to redeem it for. I know they just recently changed this. Here is more information on the new categories and how long they'll last
Congratulations on your CSP approval 🎉

Even using the link you provided I don't see the SUB progress tracker, even after selecting the CSP. Perhaps it takes time, or transactions, before it appears? I'll keep an eye on it once I receive and spend some on it.
Your other link references Pay Yourself Back, not Shop with Chase. I was curious about the latter since they seem to be pushing it via email and on the UR dashboard.

Yeah, might be where you'll have to receive and activate the card before it shows up but it will show there. One of the thing I like about Chase since other banks don't do it
Sorry about that. As long as you've enabled cookies and not have anything that may interfere like running a VPN then yes they're worth it. If you're already shopping at the store and keep in mind any limitations Chase imposes on what counts for purchases it's some extra points in your pocket
Grats on your excellent CSP approval & welcome to myFico
Congratulations on your CSP approval!
Congrats on your Chase Sapphire Preferred approval
