@Gunnerboy - you did the right thing. I planned to decline if it was going to be an HP.
I told a relative about this and they just got two SP CLIs on their Chase cards.
Sorry it didn't work out for you this time. Several of us were told it's a new policy. It's possible the rep you spoke to was misinformed, so you can always try again to get someone else or try again at another time.
Best wishes!

The rep was awesome and told me they recently changed their policy and they inquiry would be soft.
I got approved for $6k...taking me from $7600 -> $13,600. Needless to say, I'm happy.
I've had the card a little over a year and a half. Carried balances for months at a time and paid it off. My most recent pattern has been to charge a min of $200-500 per month and PIF, or carry a balance of less than 10% and PIF.
I'm 3/24.
Right on! Congratz.
And I do hope that others will be eligible down the road if not now. Sharing the love...😊
@Gunnerboy wrote:So, online my account showed no CLI was available at this time. Curious, I decided to call and request one. The agent advised me that it would be a hard inquiry, so I told her to disregard the request, that my reports were frozen. I didn't want to get into a dialog about a new SP CLI policy.
I called for both of mine towards end of last month and was told they would be hp's but I had some to spare so I agreed. Never got hp's in the end and my reports were thawed. Not sure if mine was a timing thing in my case. But it's risky so I firmly agree you made the right decision in the end. But it may be worth calling back in a week or so. You may get a different agent then.
@nytokyobred79, thanks and I agree that many others get to benefit from this policy change. 😀
Wow, what a game changer! That's awesome. Congrats on your increase!

Do you have to unfreeze your reports forn this to work?
You do not have to unfreeze. I just got increase and all my reports are frozen. Good luck.
