Cap One Credit Steps

Was just approved a week or so ago for Cap One Plat and Cap One quicksilver. Ive been reading on the forum about the credit steps program. Are all new cards enrolled in this? Do they send you a letter or email about this? I received my cards in the mail yesterday but it didn't mention credit steps. Thanks!

Yes, you'll receive an email letting you know.

^I was never informed about credit steps. I had to go and chat with them to confirm I was enrolled.

How long after receiving the cards did you get the email? Did it tell you how much the increase would be? Thanks for the replies!

My email didn't come til about 2 weeks later & yes it gives you the amount. However, I read here that you can request a cli after 3 months.

Yes, that definitely works for a lot of people (me included). Once the third statement cut on each card, I hit the CLI button and they went from $500 to $1500 instantly, and I'll still get a bump once credit steps ends.

You guys are awesome thanks for the quick replies. In regards to getting a CLI after 3 months did you PIF every month or keep a small balance. I plan to use it heavily but pay it off but can leave some on their if need be.

I was told by CS that yes new cards are put into credit steps. I hit the luv button after 2 months and received a generous CLI. I used card regularly and had it up to 80% utilization then made a huge payment. Days later hit the button.

I think I had a balance of maybe $100 on each card at the time of their CLI. I use the card a lot and pay it down though. I think it might have more to do with the money you run through it than the balance.
