Cap One Secured Card

I was just approved for the Cap One Secured Card with a $99 dollar deposit.

Not something to jump up and down about but I know people love data points or at least I do.

They pulled TU and EQ.

TU - 540 / 7 INQUIRES / 4 COLLECTIONS
EQ - 620 - 1 Inquiry / 0 collections

The past few months I went from mid 400s to where I stand now.

I have an Amazon Secured Card - 150 limit
Wayfair card - 750 limit
Open sky- 200 limit
Credit Strong account
Car note.

By June the collections will either be PFD or at least paid.

My uti is 1%

Income 73k.

Re: Cap One Secured Card

Congrats! 🍾
I'd wait & not apply for anymore right now... let these cards age a bit then Once you handle your collections and your scores improve a little more... you could try prequels for Capital one, discover or Amex and see what pops up.

Re: Cap One Secured Card

Yup. That is exactly the game plan. I wanted at least 2 non store cards.

Hopefully once I knock out some of the collections , new avenues will open for me.

I disagree.  Jump up and down. Celebrate.  You're making progress to get to *good* credit.  Holding on to the Cap1 card, graduating it, and *keeping* it is a great way to build.  I went from foreclosure and i-don't-know-how-low-fico-got to 700s in a few short years, and as soon as util is down a wee bit, that'll go up more.  So celebrate.  Seriously.
