I thought I should share this as a DP, given Cap1's general reputation for increases. My SO opened a Cap1 Plat in mid-August 2020 w/ an SL of $1k. They were offered an upgrade to a QS after their statement posted a couple of days ago, and when I logged in to their account today their credit line had been increased to 3k. Given the size of the increase, I assume this is the initial "credit steps" CLI that I've seen people here refer to. Their profile has changed some since their approval, at least in that 1) their FICO 8's are up about 60 points, from the 650's to the 710's and 2) they added a second bankcard in October, for which they were given a 9k SL. They used the Cap1 for everything until they got the second bankcard, after which they switched to that one and put basically no activity on the Plat. Hopefully some of this is useful to those trying to puzzle out Cap1 CLI logic.

Congratulations!
That's terrific! Congratulations to SO on their approval!
Grats to your SO on the Cap-1 luv ![]()
Credit steps CLI would come after 6 months. An opening $1k limit shouldn't have been credit steps.
it's most likely due to your SO percentage of spend on card. Congrats to your SO!!!

I looked at the statements, and spend as a precentage of CL was about 15% for the first three months, 5% for the fourth. I often see ppl talking about Cap1 needing high spend relative to CL for an increase; this seems lower than that would have led me to expect, but idk.

Hmmm... You are right, they like more spend than that. IDK, Cap One is a strange beast.
Very cool. Congrats! ![]()
Congratulations on SO Capital One auto-CLI!
