Cap1 random CLI

I had a cap1 platinum and recently got offered to upgrade to quicksilver. I took the upgrade but my credit limit stayed the same. Couple months later (today) I check and they trippled my credit limit. Is this normal? I never asked for it and certainly are no complaining. I checked the online access and called the number to make sure I wasn't seeing things. My wife, separete invidiual account, just got a random $1000 CLI at the same time. I can't find any online documents stating that they increased it.

I was finishing up Christmas shopping so I purposely went over my old credit limit to make purchases I was going to do any how and it all checks out. Hehe, it'll all be paid back in 3 business days.

I got an auto cli a while back. When I went to sign on it said something about giving me more credit or something but I thought it was trying to talk me into a new card and I blew through it. When the statement cut later in the month I had the cli. Then I got an email like a week later saying they did it. It was a small one but still welcome. Of course it started the 6 month clock again

Thanks. So this is real? LOL. I always got notified. Damn. Feels good after going through divorce and bk a while back. Feels really good that a bank recognizes responsible credit.

Yeah it's real.  I've had 2 Capital One cards for 4 1/2 years, well one was an Orchard, and only got that one auto cli. Had to ask for the other one. That was on the Orchard buy-out card now that I think about it.  It became a platinum when Cap 1 acquired it then I pc'd it to a QS1 recently. Congratulations!

I just logged into one of my two pathetic Capital One cards a few minutes ago and sweet baby Jesus Christmas came early!  

I got my second ever auto CLI from Capital One in a DECADE from $750 to $1,750 with a 666 CapOne TU score. The only other time my two CapOne cards (this card actually) got a auto CLI was when CapOne bought out last year (or was it this year?) HSBC's CC portfolio in the USA and I went from $500 to $750 when they converted my HSBC card into another CapOne card.

Would I be wise or unwise to press my luck and probably give up a nasty hard pull (no idea who CapOne pulls in Texas?) to see if they'll match my CL of $1,750 with my other CapOne card since my other CapOne card has only a $400 CL! (saddest thing ever typed)  

Also I have only 1 inquiry on TU and none EX or EQ and a zero balance on the $400 CL CapOne card, obviously since if I buy a freaking Snickers I basically max it out!

Ha. This is actually funny. I've had a couple friends verify and they all received a 1k increase in available credit.  

@creditluv - Don't do it. Don't do a hard if they gave you a $1k increase. Wait exactly 6 months (maybe 1 day after) for a hard from them. My opinion. 

Edit 1: 2 out of my 5 friends received a $1k CLI

Edit 2: This is interesting because I didn't recieve a static CLI like this. My wife did, however ($1k). 

Edit 3: I called to verify in person an on 12/19 I received a very generous CLI.
