Hey guys, capital one been showing me some love. Been rebuilding since about a year now.
Anyway, I called in to cap1 talked about product changes since the link wasn't working
I had an offer to upgrade from platinum to quicksilver.
I decided to switch it even though I don't really use it as it might open up more CLI in the future.
In the same phone call I asked for a CLI auto approved, went from $400 to $500. It's lousy especially since I have another card with capital one and an auto loan for $30k+ but I just took it cause why not. I can't seem to break $1000 limit on cards.
also to add, this was all done without any hard pulls, all soft inquiries.
scores are between 630-660 across all 3. Started at mid 400s 2 years ago.
capital one is very weird.
Depends on what card you have from Cap-1, wait a year and just app for a new card and I bet its 5K+ then you can get rid of the platinum/QS. I finally torched mine after 11 yrs, stuck at 2450 since 2014 while I have most cards north of 10K. Grats to your PC & move upwards ![]()
Congratulations on your Capital One CLI and product upgrade!
Congrats on the PC and the increase!
Congrats on your Capital One CLI & PC

Congratulations on the CLI and the PC. You've got the right attitude when it comes to the CLI, something is better than nothing.
Congrats on the upgrades!
CO definitely buckets users. Check my sig, my CO was bumped up a few times, but I had to put a LOT of spend on it to get it to move. I have a home business and can push several thousands through a card no problem, and even with doing that they'd rarely grant an upgrade. I've since moved on. IMO CO is a rebuilding card and while I can't speak for others, I will likely move on entirely and close all my CO cards. They were good to me when I started rebuilding, but they won't bend once you're on the road to recovery, or reached it.
From my experience the higher your starting limit, the better chance your card has to grow. If you start under $500, you're definitely bucketed and it'll be almost impossible to ever get a good limit on that card.
As an aside: My first Discover card is in the same boat. Started at $500 (if memory serves) and it's been where it is now for nearly 6 months with denial after denial. So I tried applying for another, instant approval @ $10k for a Discover Miles. Lesson? Don't stress over it and as your score increases, move on to better cards and maybe come back to give them another try in the future.
Good luck!
Congrats on your CLI and Product Upgrade! I started out at a credit score of 415 so I know about the rebuild process. Be patient and know your limitations when it comes to charging. You will definitely see your scores rise before you know it. I can't wait to hear continue to hear the Journey you are on.
Congrats!
That’s terrific! Congratulations on your approval!! 👏🏼🎉🍾
