Capital One CLI !!!

I just used the magic number as well and they doubled my credit limit.  I was wondering if I should have just waited until my anniversity date?  Do you think the CLI would have been higher?  I went from 500 CL to 1000 CL.  I'm a student w/ very little credit history.

The Magic Number produced a $500 CLI for me.  Was $14 from maxing out the card and they gave me the 5 bills no questions asked.  Account open for 6 months.  One of two with Cap One.  Thanks Guys!!  Anyone know if Citi has a magic number or maybe HSBC?  LOL

HSBC IS THE WORST.  CAP ONE IS LIKE GOLD COMPARED TO THEM.  BUT I DO LOVE WAMU.

Okay, I am TOTALLY disgusted with Cap1 now!! I've had 2 of their cards for 6 and 7 years now. One CLI on them in that time...went from $300 limit on both to $500 limit on both this past year. I just called their "backdoor" number to request an increase and they refused me on both of them! They did decrease my APR on 1 of them however. I want to add that I have NEVER been late on these cards or any others since opening them.  Also Providian in just a little over 2 years increased my limits from $3000 to $12,500. I am at a loss to understand how Cap1 determines who and when they give CLIs. Congrats to all of you who were successful though!

Hmmm, sounds like you need to call again....LOL.  The guy I talked to didn't even pull my credit report, told me that the 500 would be there in the next 72 hours...I hung up the phone opened my Cap One online account and there it was...BAM.  I'd call back and get another operator.

Cap1 softs you often.  If a relationship manager sees that you are eligible they will give it to you, otherwise they can't.  Thats why it doesn't take much talking.  what they use to determine eligibility is anyone's guess. 

For me, I called and received one every time I asked until I called and made a large BT to the card.  Since then it has been dry.  seems like they think as long as the balance is more than I would want to pay off at the time, they don't love me.  That's ok.... heck won't complain about 1.99%

i was looking at my cards today and noticed they have different toll free numbers which all lead to the same automated system.

is this how they determine prime and subprime accounts when u call in.

for ex, my cards say:

gold mc 800-903-3637

visa platinum w/ no rewards 800-903-3637

then

preferred plus platinum 800-955-7070

no hassle cash 800-955-7070

why different numbers?

I say Capital One Still sucks! I tried for so many times to get a CLI, ending in me closing the account. I dont understand it, so they dont deserve my money...

dont feel bad i called once this past spring and got a cli w/the regular # from 500-to 1000 i called the back door # after seeing my sucess here and got the letter today it says my cad won't allow cli, i know it's subprime but they dont top at $1000 do they? should i leave be or try calling again or what?? brammy ? anyone??

brammy what are your scores like do you have prime card or subprime? any bk? this was first card i got after my bk dischraged 1/05
