So I'm happy to report that I finally took the plunge and applied for the Venture X. Credit line of 30K. But they asked me a couple questions I've never seen on CC application before:
1) How much is your monthly credit card spend ?
2) How often to you carry a balance ? They gave options of selecting "Always, Often, Sometimes, Never carry a balance"
These questions were a bit annoying to me as i'm thinking like... "ummm.. don't worry about it". I ignored the question about my monthly spend... they'll find out if they approve me I figured. I answered "sometimes" as to how often I carry a balance. Can't help but wonder how much weight these questions carry when they review your appliction. My credit score was 840 last I checked with Experian and instead of giving me the lowest rate of like 21%... they gave me the middle APR of 25%. The highest APR available was 29%. Thought this was weird too since I always get lowest APR offered. As a side note I've had the SavorOne for about a year... not sure if that factored into my application. Anybody else seen these questions on a Venture X application? They were not on my SavorOne application.
Congrats on the approval. The first question about monthly spend is very typical. I see it most of the times when I request a CLI on my Savor and QS. The second is less frequent. I don't know if your specific non answer and answer to these questions affect one's SL and or APR. Nonetheless, I wouldn't reminisce of what you could answered for a different outcome.
However, maybe others can chime in with more DPs.

Congrats, and yes those two questions are pretty common for Capital One. I see them all the time on their application/CLI request page.

Considering they pull your report every month and hard pulled it for the card, they know the answers to these questions. Who knows why they ask, I doubt it plays much of a role in their underwriting. Wonder if its more a curiosity than anything else. My credit score was 840 last I checked with Experian and instead of giving me the lowest rate of like 21%... they gave me the middle APR of 25%. Having perfect credit isn't a positive for Cap1, they would much rather make $1000 in interest than in fees. Do you actually carry balances? What was your Utilz at the time of the app? What is it normally? As a side note I've had the SavorOne for about a year... not sure if that factored into my application. If they saw always PIF behavior, it was probably a negative, since you never paid them interest. Anybody else seen these questions on a Venture X application? They were not on my SavorOne application. My Cap1 Pre-Approval tool has different, additional questions if I'm logged in vs. if I'm not logged in. Even the CLI request form is different desktop vs. mobile.
Congrats on the amazing approval!!
Yes.... I agree. At this point it doesn't really matter what answers I wrote in the application. I'm just happy to get approved since Capital One is a bit more unpredictable with their approvals from what I've heard. They do turn down people with too many open accounts with great credit I've heard.
@OmarGB9 and
Thanks for your info as well.. Good to know this is common with Cap1 and CLI with them. I'll keep that in mind.
Congratulations on your Venture X approval!
Outstanding SL, congratulations on your new Venture X!
congrats on the approval
