I have 4 credit cards w/ Capital One-2 of which were bought from HSBC. 2 have high APR's due to past bankcruptcy and a few lates. 2 have lower APR's. Just recently I have gotten approved for a card with a $2000 limit 0%apr til Sept 2015 on balance transfers and an APR of 17.99% after that----good for me. I like one of my Cap. One cards for the cash rewards, but the APR is 19.90%. (I cash out the rewards every once in awhile and throw that money into savings to make interest off free money). So finally I decided I would talk to Capital One and see how competitive they would be in dropping my APR so I could keep using their card. They nicely granted my wish-dropping the APR 4% for 7 months to 15.90%--beating out Chase. I feel like I won in the end-I did my Balance transfer to Chase-so hopefully I'll pay off that balance at 0% by Sept 2015 and then use my Capital One card to make my gas purchases (and keep my rewards) and I pay that balance everytime I buy my gas. ![]()
