It's been a long while since I've been here, life has taken me for a loop - 2023 was a tough year for me personally, long story short, I'm 12 months post-Chapter 7 discharge.
As I'm making better money than I ever have and only have a mortgage and auto loan as existing debt, I decided it's time to look at rebuilding my credit and yield some travel or cash-back benefits again on my routine purchases.
I did a brief search here for approvals of those in similar situations as myself and accordingly checked Discover and AmEx for pre-approvals with no luck, so my next step was CapitalOne.
I have a CapitalOne auto loan (re-affirmed during bankruptcy along with my mortgage), but I burned them for about $5k with a credit card during my discharge so I wasn't holding my breath when checking them for a pre-approval
They pre-approved me for 3 of their cards, QuickSilver One, SavorOne and a Platinum card. I opted for the SavorOne for the 3% back on grocery, streaming services, etc and never carry a balance!
I decided to apply, and surprisingly was given an instant approval for a $3,000 SL at a 29.99% APR (APR is nearly irrelevant as I'll be paying this off as I make purchases)
I'm open to suggestions, if you should have any! Unfortunately I was forced to burn some great CU's during discharge (NFCU, NavyFed, PenFed) along with Discover so I'm not sure they'll ever touch me again, but Cap1 was willing to give me another chance
