Chase 5/24 rule... Targeted Offer Data Points

First, I have to say I am over the 5/24 rule with six credit cards in the last 2 years. Although it is not officially documented that this can affect approval from Chase many data points collaborate this to be true.

Today I noticed when checking if payment was posted for my Chase Freedom Unlimited card I had three targeted offers. I had one auto offer and two credit card offers.

The two cards that were offered were the Sapphire Preferred with a credit limit of ($18,000) and the Sapphire Reserve credit limit of ($22,000) card.

Going by past data points from this forum of Chase approving targeted offers I said let me take a swing.  I decided to apply for the Sapphire Preferred to pair with my Freedom Unlimited and it was approved.

Very nice! I haven't sniffed a pre-approval being over 5/24.

Congrats!

Remember that store cards don't count towards 5/24, if that applies to your circumstance.
