Ok, so let me first say that yes, I am well aware that this is not the best rewards card out there. 2% on gas, groceries (includes Target & Wal-Mart), and Disney purchases. 1% on everything else. That's not why we applied, since I'm quite happy to continue using our Venture as our primary card.
We live 15 minutes outside the gate of Walt Disney World, and thus are there almost every week for dinner, or to catch a ride, show or concert using our annual passes. We stay at their Deluxe resorts 4-5 times a year, and take 1-2 Disney cruises a year. With all of that in mind, I felt like it made sense to get this card, for these two key perks:
There are other perks like merchandise and dining discounts, but we get most of those through our annual pass anyway. Any rewards points we get on top of that (at 2%) are just extra pluses, but were not factored into our decision.
Lastly, on their website they are currently offering a $200 Disney Gift Card for the basic rewards card (no AF but only 1%), or $100 Disney Gift Card for the Premier. HOWEVER, when we booked our last cruise, I remember seeing a $200 statement credit (not gift card) offer if we agreed to sign-up for the Premier card as part of the booking process. I went back through the cruise booking process tonight to see if they still had the offer, and they did! So instead of waiting 6-8 weeks after meeting the $500 spend requirement for the gift card, we get the Premier card, plus $200, plus it posts as a statement credit in 2 weeks or less. Didn't have to book the cruise in order to get it, but you have to go through the whole booking process in order to see the offer. Just a little tip in case this post shows up in Google for someone.
Anyway, so I had my wife apply because she doesn't currently have any revolving credit solely in her name. She is an AU on all of my cards. Since my scores are just fine where they are, I decided to not apply jointly and save myself the INQ. Her score is 726 with one 5-year old 90-day late on her CR. She was approved instantly for a $5000 initial CL. Just wanted to document the approval here in case anyone else is considering this card. Hope that helps! With this card, we broke the $60k mark for available CL. Wahoo!

- 0% APR for 6-months (ongoing) every time we book a Disney vacation package (which includes our resort stays and cruises). Venture can't offer me that.
- $50 onboard credit for all cruises, which allows us to break even on the annual fee if we just take one cruise, or we come out ahead $50 if we take 2 cruises as we did last year.

Congrats on your approval ![]()
Yay WTG congrats to your DW on the approval!!!
Congrats to DW! Thanks for sharing.
congrats

Congrtulations! I was just approved yesterday as well.
My wife and I live in San Diego and we visit Disneyland about once a month, WDW twice a year and try to take a Disney Cruise at least once a year. I agree with you that the rewards is not as good as other credit cards, but to have a DIsney one and use the rewards for trips is a plus!
