So I've been looking at the Freedom for a while, because their categories seem to align with my spend more often than my Discover card does. I tried applying last November but got denied because I didn't have enough card history then. This time, I did, and I even built up a couple months of history with Chase thanks to the Amazon Visa.
I applied on the 12th (of October) and got the 30 day message. For about a week the automated status line gave me the 2 weeks message, then it suddenly changed to 7-10 days on the 18th. On the 19th I called recon. They transferred me to verification, who sent me a one-time code over SMS and had me read it back. After that, instant approval for a $3,700 credit line! I'll probably shuffle some CL over from the Amazon card when I get the Freedom in, but either way that's still more than enough for my purposes. Hopefully I won't have to wait too much longer to actually get the card!
