Hey, y'all! New here, but been lurking as eventually I would like to apply for the CSP.
So, was feeling {Edited} today and applied for the Chase Freedom. I just switched over to Chase checking/savings about a month ago, as I saw that they like to see history with them (for what one month is worth, I guess). Here's a little about my scores if you could do the pleasure of helping a girl out
I was approved for $2k on the Freedom with 22.99% APR (yeesh)
TU 673 EQ 671
(scores went down a few points after applying/receiving for a $6k upstart loan a few weeks ago - prior, they were in the 680s)
In my wallet: $1k Cap1, $500 Loft
In my sock drawer: $300 Target
Income: $42k
Also have about $29k in student loans
I've been "good" for about a year: I have two closed cards that I was really bad about paying while I was in school, but make $300-$400+ payments twice a month
Do you think it's worth my while to call the recon line (have seen the number around these boards, but was instantly approved for the $2k) for this one? I would've been happy with $5k, even $4k... but would this be a HP or just a SP?
Thank you!
A CLI from Chase is a 2nd HP. I'd use the card and just apply for the CSP later to build your internal score..

Welcome to myFICO!!! Congratulations on your approval!!! If it were me, I would leave it alone and be thankful for the instant approval for the 2K. Good luck and keep up the good work!!!
Personally i would highly advise against it and just deal with what they approved you for.
After a time you can apply for another Chase card that will come with a higher limit than the first one.
Chase operates differently in that it's much simpler to open new cards with them and move your limits around that way.
Hope this helps.
Wow, thanks for the quick help, all!
I will stick to your recommendations and wait it out... I've seen stories on here with Chase granting CLIs after 4-6 months! Besides this definitely bump my overall CL up and I can be more flexible with my utilization
I also had them expedite the card - can't wait to get it in 1-2 business days instead of 7-10 Yay for 5% CB on restaurants! (Big foodie speaking here... not going to benefit much from the 5% CB on gas though, as a New Yorker...)
Congratulations! I love my Freedom card and the customer service has been great. I had a small ordeal while traveling and getting charges put on my card that were not mine. They helped me after the hotel wasn't responding as promptly. I started at 2k and now I am at 3k; account is only 2 months. So leave yours alone and you will be ok!

Fellow New Yorker + foodie here—you'll love watching the 5% on restaurants add up (and then redeeming that statement credit too!) But yeah, gas is a bummer, haha!

I hate when girls do that. What does you being a boy or a girl, have to do with anything here? Looking for that 'I'm a girl' sympathy from guys?
But I'm not hating on your approach. I do see a pattern that when a 'girl' posts something, more of the 'guys' tend to respond and try to help. I just find it funny and sit back and laugh. Anyways, good luck.
Congrats and best of luck to you. Freedom is my everyday card!!!
