Chase Ritz approval

Just got approved for the Chase Ritz card for 12k at 20.49aPr. Not to shabby. Do you guys think there is need for a Marriott card now? I see no need for it. If I can just transfer my points to Marriott. Any ideas?

The travel and hotel card space gets really crowded. Even Chase offers several hotel CCs. CSR, CSP, IHG, Hyatt, Mariott, Ritz, etc.  And AmEx offers a few more.  A lot of redundancy.  You could add all of them if you want to.  Hope the annual fees are worth it....

It is great if you spend half of your time at hotels... Or at least 100+ days.

First, congratulations on yuor new card!

To answer your question, I suppose that might depend on your needs.  If you need a lot of Marriott points for a redemption, the 80K points from the Marriott card is good, plus it will give you one free night (CAT 1-5 hotels) each anniversary.  I would look at what the Marriott Card offers for $85/year and see if it fits you.  Yes, you can use your Ritz points at Marriott and Starwood too now.  I'm sure others will chime in as well.

Re: Chase Ritz approval

I have the Ritz card...actually thinking about closing it right before my next annual fee is due.  I'll move the limit to my CSP or my AARP card which see a lot more use than my Ritz card.

Re: Chase Ritz approval

Congrats on the approval.. Have had the Ritz for about two years now.. Thinking about closing it myself as the CSR seems superior to the card after the initial sign-up bonus other than gold at marriott/ritz which can be obtained other ways along with some other perks, but CSR earns at a better rate for non marriott/rtiz stays and can be transferred as partner.  Still weighing my options vs. paying both AF's of Ritz/Csr
