Hi guys, the other day I applied for a Chase Sapphire Preffered with my wife's referral link. I didn't have a great score and my utilization was pretty high, but I decided to go for it anyways. Got the 30 days message and had a bad feeling about it. I waited two days and still nothing, so I called a back door number and I finally got connected after 40 minutes of hold time and being sent to different departments. Anyways, they asked a few security questions and they finally approved me, SL 16.6k.
Some data points: they pulled Experian and my score was 720. My utilization was at 22%, or about 17k across my accounts, including 8k on my chase freedom card. No bad marks on my report. Also I only had 1/24, which I know is something Chase looks at.
I plan on using the card for the next 11 months and then merge the limit to my Freedom and Freedom Unlimited and close the CSP so I don't pay the annual fee.
