Chase Sapphire Reserve approval

Hello folks!

Seems like the FOTM fever caught on me.

I was going to take advantage of the $200 savings account bonus ($15k / 90 days) from Chase, and I thought I'll ask about the CSR.

It turned out that I had a pre-approval at 16.24%. I didn't see any Chase pre-apps online, and that's been the case for me for the past two years.

The application process took a bit long because I also changed my address today (at the branch, while opening the savings account) since we had just finished moving last weekend. After a bit of back and forth on the phone with the branch officer, I was finally approved for $25.4k.

I'm yet to get the card.

Statwise, EX FICO08 (AMEX) is 762. Only EX was pulled.

I was actually 8/24 (but one of them is Blispay) + another 2/24 if you count AU cards. No store cards.

Now the question is, how to get the fee waived for the AU? My SO does a pretty high bit of traveling but is absolutely against adding more cards to the profile, and initially I was thinking of downgrading / cancelling my CSP and SO's Southwest (thus the effective AF would be the same). But the AU AF is a bummer. Any ideas?

And if the fee can't be waived, what are the benefits of the AU card that deserves the price? I don't have the Plat or the Prestige so please enlighten me.

Re: Chase Sapphire Reserve approval

Congrats on the approval.  I believe the only perk for AU is lounge access on their own possibly?  Maybe primary renter car insurance as well, but not 100% about that.  Hopefully someone else will ring in.  Would love to have a Chase branch next to me to see if I am pre-approved, but when I go and see my parents in another state will probably check then as they are close to one.

Re: Chase Sapphire Reserve approval

Thanks. Some inputs about the pros and cons of the AU will be great, from the board.

(Of course, I'll give them a call later on, when I get the card. But any personal viewpoint will be helpful.)

Back to the GC and grow that seedling

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Chase Sapphire Reserve approval

Gotta love all the Chase bonuses going around. I recently took advantage of the $400 for opening Premier Plus Checking Account. Oh yea, and that CSR thing is pretty cool too. Congrats on your success !!!

Re: Chase Sapphire Reserve approval

There is no point to the AU apart from a PP pass.

Your SO should apply for their own CSR and get double the bonus.

You can merge points later on if you live at the same address.
