So got my CSP approved over the weekend, and I would love some advice on next steps for CC apps with Chase.
I would like to get the following sometime this year:
SW Premier (want that bonus offer, have the Plus currently)
Marriott (use them a lot, especially on vacation, going on one in November)
Freedom Unlimited (to pair with my CSP for UR, I'm not sold on the regular Freedom's rotating categories, esp for 2016)
Disney (before November, just for the perks, although I may have the DW get this one)
I have only the CSP as a new card in the last 2 years, so I'm at 1/24.
My questions are:
1. Should I do a second one now?
2. If so, then wait how many days (30?) for the next one (or two)?
3. Which order? I am worried that Marriott bonus will be gone soon. I got an email from Marriott today with a 40K offer, but the 80K link still works.
Spread them out through out the year and get the one you want most as the next one. Chase tends to flag applications done in quick succession as fraud. Do you need all these cards now?

No I do not need them all now. But I do not want to miss out on the big sign-up bonuses on the SW and Marriott cards right now. But, I also need to space them out a little to make sure I can hit the spend req for the bonuses. I do have a number of large expenses coming up soon that I can use a CC for (including biz travel) so it won't be super hard to hit the spending req so I don't need to wait six months or anything.
When I would actually "need" them:
- Freedom Unlimited soon so we can start earning points on our everyday budget spend. (Once we hit the spending req for the bonus this would be our bill pay, grocery, etc. card, and my CSP the non-Marriott travel and dining card)
- SW is debatable. I don't think I'll earn the signup points in time to use them to buy my flights for November. I'll probably just use my current SW card to pay (and PIF) once the dates get released.
- Marriott by September, although it'd be nice to have this for biz travel for the summer. At the end of the day it's likely all my Chase UR points will go to Marriott or Marriott/SW packages.
- Disney by November, for the meet and greets/select discounts when we are there.
Ok.. The spacing and the timing should work. These bonuses as long as you are not over the 5/24 rule will always be there. So I'd get the Freedom Unlimited and then give it sometime before applying for the others if I were in your shoes.
Update the thread with results if you do apply..
Ok, pulled the trigger on the Freedom Unlimited and I was instantly approved with a SL of $14K.
I'll hold off for a while while I meet the spend reqs for the CSP and the CFU, then sometime in the summer go for the SW Premier.
Thanks for the advice!
