Re: Chase multiple Apps

I would give my left buttcheek for a Chase CC, but that pesky 5/24....

Had I known this could maybe be bypassed in a branch I would've tried that route when I opened my account for the $500 bonus when you open an account.

Sadly, I thought that would warm them up to me, and applied online and called reconsideration and they told me no "5/24"

So after my 3 months I closed my accounts and went back to BOA with my tail between my legs.

UGH!

Re: Chase multiple Apps

I applied for Chase Saphire at bank , then applied for Chase Marriott online at home . I can only speak to my specific results . I just rechecked my Cr and i have 13/24 . So , i guess the major takeaway is app at a branch .

Re: Chase multiple Apps

Update! I apped for both today and was approved for both!

I switched to the Ink Cash instead of the preffered though. I will get the preffered for the bonus when I drop back under 5/24 again. Thanks for the tips everyone!

Re: Chase multiple Apps

You know I have been reading a lot of post about the 5/24 rule and how to bypass it. I must say that I was more than 15/24 when I was approved for my CSP(25.9k) instant and my Slate(9.5k) instant (I already had my FU card for 2yrs). I applied online because they appeared to be offers (green check mark) with a solid APR. I can't really say why I was so successful but what I will say is that:

- it is not definate that you need to go into a branch to bypass 5/24

- it is not definate that anything we know assures an approval or a denial

- banking relationship may matter ( I have a checking and savings account with them)

- factors about your credit HISTORY definately matter (no BK ever or missed payments in 4.5 years)

The 5/24 rule may be written in black and white but I believe that YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY...ALL of the time even when not concerning Chase bank. Very hard to predict....

Just my 2cents....Smiley Happy
