I am in complete shock right now. I just wrote a thread about a recent approval for a $2,000 Capital One card after having recent charge-offs with them. A few minutes ago, I want searching for banks who you can check pre-qual status with online, and even though I also had a recent charge-off with Chase, I decided to check anyways (since there would be no inquiry hit, so no harm no foul). Full disclosure, I do bank with them (2 checking accounts), and had a car loan years ago that was in good standing. But I only settled my charged-off credit card with them 4 months ago!
Anyways, the pre-qual page showed that I was pre-qualified for a Freedom and a Saphire Preferred. I was blown away! Went ahead and applied for the Sapphire Preferred, and they gave me an instant approval for $8,400! That's more than double my highest card right now!
Total Loan Balance: $43k / $65k
Total SL: $78k

The crazy thing is they pulled Experian. My Experian Fico 8 is only 629, and Bankcard 8 is 616.
So, indeed, it seems my banking relationship must be how this happened. Because, with an only 5-mo old Chase credit card chargeoff and 616-629 FICOs, how else could they have possibly decided to approve me at all, let alone for an SL as high as $8,400?
