Chase

So..  I have been trying to rebuild my credit for a long time now. I had medical collections that were from 2009 and are going to fall off next year. And a couple of credit cards from when I was 18 that went to collection, one of them was Capital One. Last year I was able to get a auto loan with a cosigner of course and a store card from Daniel's Jewelers with a down payment. Last month, I figured I should start doing something to build my credit. Last April, recommended me Credit one, was preapproved then pulled the trigger then got approved for $400. My plan was just to use the card to build payment history while waiting on my collections to fall off. Then I read something about the shopping cart tricks. Which I did and was able to get the Victoria Secret and Express from Comenity. 2 weeks later, checked my credit karma score and score went up for about 30 points. CK Transunion was 595 and jumped up to 625. I was so happy when I saw this jump on my score, so it made me want to try to pre approve for Chase because I've been wanting this card and been trying the preapproval but no luck. Until that day my score jumped 30 points. Tried preapproval again and Chase Freedom and Slate popped up! I couldn't believe it that I had to keep redoing again and make sure it wasn't a mistake. It was really there so I pulled the trigger and applied for Freedom. To my surprise, they approved me for $2000 limit! I wanted to try Slate to since it said that I was also preapproved but it wouldn't let me accept the slate offer anymore, saying I already accepted the offer.I was so happy so I thought, if chase approved me, other places like Walmart and Macys would probably approve me too. I went for it, approved for Walmart for $600, Macys for $300. I couldn't believe I got approved for 3 cards in one day, specially Chase. Ever since then I got so obsessed with my credit score and report wanting it to get better and better. Today my CK Transunion is 627 Equifax 637, on my walmart free score is 616. I'm planning on being on the Garden until the end of the year, since I opened 6 credit cards in less than 2 months. Now I am targeting AMEX and another major credit card like Citi or Bank of America. Not sure which one. Or even another Chase card but now I don't see any preapprovals from Chase anymore. I'm trying to do everything right, to the point where I just wanna pay my credit card right after I use it. Keeping my balances below 30% for utilization and aging my credit. Any advice on the steps I should take next? I am planning on trying preapprovals again in December the hoping to get an AMEX next year.. What do ya'll think and suggest?

Re: Chase

I don't know if you are going to qualify for Citi, AMEX or B of A yet.  Once your scores are in the mid 600s, it appears Amex is more willing to give people a chance.  Citi and B of A appear to be harder, but maybe some of the others on here can give you more insight.  I would garden for 6 months if I were you, ask for CLIs on the cards you have, then consider applying for the other 3 then.  Congradulations on the great start of your credit journey!
