Choice Privileges Select approval DP

Instantly approved for the new Choice Privileges Select through Wells Fargo:

  • $14k starting limit
  • 24.74% APR (middle of available: 20.49%, 24.74%, or 29.74%)
  • Pulled EX (live in NY): most recent EX FICO® 8: 775 | EX FICO® 9: 767
  • Accounts: 4/6, 8/12, 12/24 (without AU 3/6, 7/12, 11/24)
  • Inquiries: 1/6, 4/12, 8/24
  • Income: $80k
  • Utilization: 7%
  • AAoA: 4.25 years
  • AoOA: 17.58 years
  • Wells Fargo relationship: Had a mortgage through them from late 2017 through late 2021, plus have had their Propel from late 2019
  • Choice relationship: Basically non-existent, have an account with one reservation, but no past stays

Jumped on this one as I’ll have my Hilton Aspire reporting soon and Wells Fargo pulled EX for my Propel application years ago (as with others, Curve has only reported to EQ so far), so even though my velocity is high, if I waited and they pulled EQ it’d be +2 across the board. Gameplan is still to go for a new house next summer, so this is likely the last for a bit.

For me this is a strong card because we are eyeing a specific property for 3 nights that is 30k Choice Points per night, so the 90k SUB would take care of that. Can’t book it until closer to the travel dates anyways, so fingers crossed it will still be available, though we have a paid booking just in case.

Also a strong card as a keeper - we’re staying in a Choice hotel next month that is 16k points or $140, so getting 30k points on the card anniversary for a $95 annual fee sure works for us (fee is waived for first year, too). P2 and I travel a lot - 43 nights in 2022, looking to top that in 2023 - and consider every option available for every trip, so hotel cards continue to be very strong for us. Besides trips involving Choice properties, I’ll pretty much only use it at home improvement stores after hitting the SUB, but since it’s a Mastercard and I have Curve, it’ll stay active while sitting in the pile of cards.

I’ll certainly take $14k as a starting limit, it just surprised me based on my Propel’s $1.5k starting limit, which took three CLIs to get to $3k. Totally different circumstances: co-branded vs core, plus my scores are much higher now with my delinquencies having dropped off a few months ago, but still - I was hoping for an approval with pretty much any starting limit, will definitely take $14k.

Last but not least, here’s an image of the card - a little small, but what I’ve found so far:
