This is my first time posting anything in the forums. I recently joined First Tech FCU, and while researching I noticed there wasn't a whole lot of information on them, especially not recent so I decided to share my recent approval for the Choice Rewards World MasterCard. I have been working to improve my scores after damaging my credit a couple of years ago (back in college), and honestly did not expect the approval since my credit is not great plus I don't have high limits on any of my other cards. (I also haven't been able to get any of my existing limits increased except for the BCU CC)
On 12/23/2020 I decided to apply for the Choice card after reading here that they like people who have low CLs and they only use Experian which is my best score at the moment. I received an instant approval, and an email stating the terms which were:
Choice Rewards World MasterCard
$10,000 SL (which is the lowest they approve for the card)
14% APR
No POI requested, or any additional documents.
701 - Experian Fico Score 8 (no other reports pulled)
5 figures income, not high by any means. (Most of the approvals I've seen are for members with 100K+ income)
I joined FTFCU about a week before applying so, no, banking relationship with them wasn't a factor. They even denied membership back in 2017.
This is more or less what my report looked like when I applied:
1. Utilization - 0%
2. 1 Charged off account (paid, settled for less than full balance)
3. AAoA - 2 yrs 11 mos
4. Recent inquiries - 4
Accounts currently in my report:
- Student Loans
- Car Loan
- Credit Cards:
- Cash Rewads CC - Baxter CU / $3.5K limit
- FingerHut / $1.1K limit (I actually requested closure of this one but it's still not reported as such)
- Costco Anywhere Visa / $4K limit
- Citi Double Cash / $1.1K limit
- Amex Delta SkyMiles / $1K limit
Now I can add the Choice MC to my wallet and will definitely hold off on any other applications for the next 12 months, hopefully. Since I would love to buy a house in the coming years. So that's about it, hope this helps others looking to get approved for this card.
