Card: Citi Diamond Preferred
Instant approval and initial limit: $500
Date: 7/31/13
Asked for a CLI on activation over the phone and the lady checked and said it would most likely be a hard pull. Decided not to do it and went online instead and did it through the LUV button. I got the 30 minute message and a denial assuming another HP. Got the letter saying my account needs to be open for 6 months.
Called the Executive Office today in South Dakota (PM if you need it) and asked for a reconsideration on the credit limit increase and a manual review. The guy did not ask me any questions. Just came back in three minutes and approved me for $3000! Super stoked! Especially since it's 6x my limit! He said he saw nothing and no reason why my request was not initially approved.
Hopefully it wasnt a 3rd HP! but I would assume not since they are so close in time that the one they have on file is likely up to date! Hoping that there was only one HP for the app and thats it!
Thank you MyFico for having such a supportive community
Anybody else have success stories? I was told that you have better luck with Citi through mail, but good thing I didn't have to get that far..!

thank you sir...i honestly did not expect it..! 6x my limit though..Not sure if thats characteristic of anybody to approve that much.
Congrats! I love that calling EO is becoming more common knowledge on this forum. I wish everyone had some type of credit education.

This i can totally agree with. However I would assume the CSR's are put in place to deal with most people, as most would not bother to keep trying after they've been told no. EO to me is a last resort kind of thing where big matters are taken as cases are escalated. But with more people being informed, I'm not sure the EO would be open to the public as they would be swamped with phone calls and not enough people to help them.
First of all CONGRATS! I applied for the Thank You card with CITI couple weeks back online. Flat out denied me. Then I called EO office talked to a very nice lady. Called me back and bam I got approved for $3k then I applied for the Divident card again another Denial kept the number from the lady at EO direct line and bam again approved me for $3k. Im guesssing They like to start people with $3k lol it's their lucky number.
Im keeping the lady's number in my phonebook just in case I need her again lol
whoa, even greater sucess! this forum rocks lol

Very true. That option may go away if it became common knowledge. However, I hate to see people stress out about things when they can call the EO. I know it sounds crazy, but I think there should be a class in every student's senior year of HS that teaches about credit and other financial matters. I know that subject is hard to teach young kids, but if it helped just one kid then its worth it. My parents tried teaching me about it when I was younger but like a typical teen, I ignored the advice. Luckily it is now 10 years later and I am good to go.
