Hello everybody!
I'm posting for the first time but I've been lurking for a couple months now.
I want to say thank you to everyone on this forum for the incredible amount of information you have given me.
Since I had nothing better to do on this rainy friday, I figured I'd write about my wife's recent approvals for credit cards.
She didn't care much about her credit because she thought she didn't have any.
She had applied once before for a credit card last year but was denied for no establishment of credit.
Since then, she had been getting pre-approval letters from everywhere and she was just tossing them away as they came because she thought she would just get rejected again.
So last month, I conviced her to give it another try and told her to use one of the pre-approval letters. All of them were expired except one from Chase (freedom).
She applied online and was instanly approved for a 1200 credit line. Her first real credit card. Then I advised her to look into her credit and told her to get her free annual report. She doesn't have much on her credit history and her longest account is for an auto lease she co-signed for about 2 1/2 years go. Another account that shows up is a secured card that was closed in march of 2013.
She then signed up for CKarma and CSesame to get her free scores and while digging through Karma and looking at the recommended cards, she decided to apply
again. She contemplated between Amex Blue? and Delta Amex and decided to go with the Delta Amex because she wants to travel with the miles that she'll be saving up. Again, she was instanly approved but had to call to find out the credit line (2000). This is 2 weeks after receving her Chase Freedom.
A day after being approved for the Amex, shes looking through CKarma and decides she now wants a Discover Card. She applys, but Discover wants identity verication and requests a copy of her social security card. She sends it in online, waits a day, and then calls to see if its approved. Shes approved with no questions. Yesterday she receives her card to find out her limit is only 750. She's really, really disappointed. A month ago she didn't have a single credit card to her name and she's disappointed because Discover gave her a 750 credit line...
So Freedom for 1200, Amex Delta for 2000, Discover IT for 750.
As for me, my credit's a mess and I don't know where to begin..
Did you ask for 5000? or did they just give you a random number.
May I ask what your income is and if they asked for it when you tried to increase your limit?
Thanks 09Lexie
As soon as I get things settled for my wife, I will for sure look for advice on this forum.
Congrats on the 3 new CC's!! That is a very nice 3 to start with
The sky is blue as can be here in SoCal. Although some rain would be nice, hahha anyways congrats on the approvals you got in with the good banks.
