Citi CLI

I decided to ask for another CLI for my Citi Prestige card the other day since I was due after a 6 month delay from the last.

Backstory: I've had this card since 2012. Credit went to hell with a bunch of chargeoffs and late payments (one of which was with Citi and led to a different account being closed). I had a 15K CL on the account which was lowered to 8K in around 2018, and then after I paid off the balance in full, they lowered me to 2K where it sat ever since. I've cleaned up every single report and scores are now in the 800s. They also bumped my APR from 12% to 26% after an "account adjustment" a year or two ago.

This card was also closed by Citi about a year ago for "too many recently opened accounts", which I appealed to the executive office for and was re-instated 2 weeks later.

I asked for a CLI a year ago, bringing my account from $2K to $4K, and then another 6 months ago bringing it from $4K to $8K. This time, the automated CLI system spit out a decline for "too many recently opened accounts" which wasn't true, so I asked Citi to do a manual CLI recon, which requires a hard pull. After a week, I see a hard pull on my report, and a week after that, my CL jumps from $8K to $17K. On the manual request I had asked for $50K, since they recon with lower amounts clearly. I received a letter stating that the $17K was a partial CLI approval and that I could send in my W2 or taxes from last year for a full reconsideration.

Well, I sent in my 1040 and two days later $50K pops up on my screen as my available CL. What an absolute ride with them.

A $50,000 CL is so "on-point" as the kids say.
