Citi Calling My Name!

Just checked their prequal. I don't know how realiable their offers are but I am pre approved for ThankYou Preffered, Diamond Preferred, Simplicity, Double Cash, & Thank You Premier!

If I could meet the spend bonus I would totally app for TYPremier but I can't with the CSP, ED, & PRG bonuses I'm working on. Double Cash would be nice but I am kind of hoping they throw a bonus on that card before I app for it.

Hmmm....

I shouldn't. I need to garden before Freedom app & I would probably get denied anyways for too many INQs and/or new accounts in last 6 months.

Talk me off the ledge guys!!

Pick the one that compliments your other cards' rewards and benefits. I am more responsible with my useage when i only use freedom for food, amex for MembershipRewards/twitter offers, and utilities payments for points, Discover for holiday (freedom is the same now) and so on. No use having two that do the same thing even if they are different banks.  If others can chime in and provide info if citi is flexible on converting one card into another in the future, then that would be a seller for me for ledge jumping! good luck what path you take!

I think the only card that makes sense for me would be the Double Cash. If I look at my profile and think about the long term, it would be nice to have a 2% cash back card to catch my general spend as my Venture won't be sticking around after year 1.

The only thing holding me back is that I wish I the Double Cash has some sort of sign up bonus! If I app now, and they add a bonus later on, I would be pissed! It doesn't seem letting my current accounts age and getting my credit scores up is that big of a deal because there are people with mid 700 scores getting approved for $1200 limits anyways.

I would really like to get in with Citi but I don't want to take a HP & be denied!

Re: Citi Calling My Name!

Since you mentioned that you are still working on multiple spend bonuses it looks you have a few recent accounts. I would recommend to wait with a Citi app then as Citi is inq and new account sensitive. Double Cash will not go away in then next few months Smiley Happy  The earliest I would app for a Citi card is 6 months after the last app but I am rather conservative with credit apps.

Thanks for the advice. I know they are new account and INQ sensitive but I pulled the trigger anyways :\

Approved for $1.7k

You only live once!

Now, who has had success getting their credit limit reconsidered and who did you contact? I know they will want another HP by the way. TIA!

Re: Citi Calling My Name!

I guess I'll just go right to the top and call the EO tomorrow. Hopefully they can get my limit to at least $5k but I'm not optimistic. Anyone with experience know if they usually pull a report from the same bureau as the app or a different bureau for a CLI?

Re: Citi Calling My Name!

lol yeah the $1.7k isn't a great limit but it's more than enough for my general spend as it will be PIF. I just hate seeing such low limits but I'm sure it grow in time. + It got me in the door with Citi.

Citi is pretty good with SP CLIs every 6 months aren't they?

Not sure to be honest.... They are one of the last major lender that I need to creack and to scared due them being conservative.. Broke through the US Bank vault.  99% sure I could get approved for a BofA card..   Citi I just can't bring to take a HP on as I think it would be a waste.. Will wait for pre-qual site to recognize my existance on this planetSmiley Happy
