I am trying to get approve for the Citi Card Simplicity and was denied because of too many inquiries. I just closed on a home and I couldn't open up any new account between Novemeber 2012 and July 2013 because of trying to closed on the new home. I know my lender made a few inquires to check credit but I didn't open up a credit account at that time.
I want to use thius card to consolidate some debt and pay it off within the 18 months 0% interest. I have good credit ranging from 660-680 and I just want to be able to obtain a llimit where I can consolidate my debt.
Any help or suggestions will be very helpful.
Exactly how many inquiries do you have on each report? AAoA? What are your current accounts and utilization?
Odd, I was just approved for their card in February. They pulled Experian, and I had 13 inquiries at the time of approval.
I was approved for this card in June.
They pulled both EX and EQ for me. From what I've read, you may need higher scores to get approved for a decent starting CL.
Here was my profile around app:
EX: 779 FICO w/ 1 INQ
EQ: 734 FICO w/ 0 INQ
UTL ~7%
Good luck and congratulations on closing home!
Could OP call backdoor for a recon? I don't anything about Citi and whether they're good with recons.
Thanks all for the information.
I am not 100% sure what my credit score is. I am at work. However, when I closed on my home, my DTI was at 40%.
I just want to consolidate some of my credit card and pay it off within the 18 months. Which is not a bad deal, if I can jus tget approve.
I was denied for a different Citi Card a couple of weeks ago due to too many inquiries. I recently rented an apartment which hit me twice in one day, as well as Helzberg Diamonds hitting me three times in one day. After all I have heard about Citi recons, i tried to call anyway. I explained the inquiries, and then being as I moved in the past thirty days, had to provide proof of address. Approved with one phone call, no problem. It never hurts to try to recon, regardless of anyone else's experiences.
Starting Score: 500'sI would call them. You have nothing to lose, all they can do is say no - but they may say yes. Plus, you already took the INQ, so don't waste it.

I was approved last year for two Simplicity cards and at the time, I had a bunch of new inquiries and my credit score was in the same range. They gave me one for $1,500 and another for $500. Not a lot, but it got me in the door.
A friend of mine had no credit, but after adding him as an AU to a few of my cards, Citi gave him a $3,000 limit. He had a bunch of inquiries as well and new tradelines too.
I'm not expert but call and see if they'll reconsider your app....
