Hey guys,
New to posting here, but have been lurking and researching for years. I finally decided to pull the trigger on a Citi DC card after getting my scores where I've had my goals set to.
Citi DC Approval: 12/1/23 $3000 limit, but was given lowest % advertised available at 19.24%
Credit Profile - 16yrs oldest account, newest 3yrs, avg account age is 10.5yrs. I do have personal loan experience with Citi. Overall Credit profile mix is strong imo. Multiple vehicle loans, personal loans, student loans all paid on time and early.
Exp 8: 802
Equifax 8: 809
TU 8: 800
Verifiable income of $188,000 w/o bonuses
Revolving Usage % 12%
Total Revolving Limits - $202k
Highest Limits: NFCU Cash Rewards $42k, Amex Delta Reserve $38,500
Lowest limit: Discover (3yrs old) $14k
I am an AU on my wife's citi prestige and have been since day 1 of that card years ago, CL is $32.5k.
I do carry some small balances from time to time, but that's by choice.
Looking for info, insights or other feedback on Citi Starting limits and usage/spend with them to increase quickly and bring the card to within my avg limits.
Sweet on the approval ![]()
Citi is conservative, I started with 3.5k out of them, they matched my lowest limit, most of mine are 10k plus. I just requested cli after more than a year and was moved to 5.5k, you can request a cli every 6 months.

Thanks for the insights and information. I'm going to make it my daily card for the next 6 months and see if I can get a SP CLI and start working this credit limit up towards my others.
I typically spend $3-5k a month on cards and pay in full, some months I'll spend more with a known big purchase. This was successful with Amex and mt reserve card. I've yet to have a POI or FI with them at my limit that card.
Nothing new to Citi.. I think my Cti DC now PC'ed to custom cash started out at 5-8k and now is at 34k by SP CLI's so it will grow. 3k honestly likely is enough for a 2% card just make sure you pay it off monthly till the CL grows every 6 months. If use a lot each SP cl will likely be 2-5k.. Eventually in the mix after say year take a HP cli if you want to grow it quickly
congrats on the approval
Congratulations on your Approval 🎉
It's a nice SL, it will grow, congratulations on your approval!
Congratulations on your Citi DC approval🎉🎉🎉
Thanks to everyone so far on the insights with Citi. Card should be here in about 7-10 days. Going to work switch this to my everyday spend card likely for the next 12 months and see if I can get 1 or 2 SP CLI.
Congratulations on your Approval!
