Hello friends!
This isn't extremely exciting but I'm sharing for the benefit of anybody else around who might have a similar profile.
First, some background... I applied for my Citi Diamond Preferred card back in May, and after three weeks they finally approved it. I didn't have to recon, but I did have to wait for them to (finally) send me an email asking me to call them for verification, then it took another week (or longer) to actually get the card... from app to card in-hand took nearly a month. EQ was 740-750 at time of approval, but I burned them back in 2000 in a BK7; this was my first attempt to get another card with them, and I was pleased to be approved at all.
They approved me for $4k at the highest APR, but my 0% promo is for the full 21 months so I don't have to worry about the APR for a while. (Once the 0% period is over I'll always PIF anyway).
When the card was approved I did a BT for $2300, which I've recently paid down to $1800 - I've been paying it down slowly on purpose due to the 0% promo. Also, December is the six month anniversary for the card. I tried for a CLI last month and was turned down; they said they would mail me a letter, but I never got it... also no document online, either, which I found odd. Keeping in mind my 'goal' of getting a CLI I purposely made a slightly larger (but still modest) payment this month of $150.
Hoping I was just a bit early with the last request I tried again, and this time they gave me a $1200 CLI - new credit line $5200.
I agree this isn't the most exciting CLI, but I'm pleased to know that growth is at least possible with this card.
I'll also add that my EQ score reported on the Citi site is only 722 (using their FICO model), which is quite a bit lower than my EX (765) and TU (788) (both FICO 8). The reason for the discrepancy is lack of an installment loan reporting on EQ, and right now I believe some of my balances haven't yet updated yet for EQ which is likely holding it back as well ('tis the season, you know... LOL).
For those who might be wondering, once the 0% promo is over (March 2018) I will probably explore a PC to a Double Cash, at least unless something unexpected changes with the Diamond Preferred to make me want to keep it.
Congrats UncleB.. Nothing wrong with a CLI!

Thanks so much my friend!
This one is going to be a slow-grower for sure, but that's OK... I plan to keep it around in one capacity or another for the 'long haul'.
Part of my attraction to them is perhaps nostalgia; "back in the day" they were my 'rock' - even when my utilization was sky-high they never seemed to mind (kind of like Capital One is today), and I never had any problems using the card, either (i.e. no bogus security alerts/freezes). I have memories of using my Citi card (then known as Citibank) quite a bit during my trip to the UK back in the early 90s, along with Amex. They both performed flawlessly, and I've always remembered that...
Thanks again!
30% increase is a great deal. Congrats!
we have the patience :] congrats B.

Thanks so much, BigBS!
It's still quite a bit away from my NFCU MasterCard at $20k, but that's OK... the DP still has it's place!
Thanks again!

Yes we do, my friend!
I could write an essay on my flaws and shortcomings, but among all the 'mess' I did end up somehow becoming a very patient person.
I have nothing but time (well, not much more, anyway...) so I can certainly wait for Citi to warm up to me a bit more. As it is I can use it just fine, anyway, so there's nothing to be concerned about in any case.
Thanks again!
Congrats UB!! I get mailers for the card all the time and it seems to be a great BT card but nothing else? Good to see that it does grow

Congrats Uncle B, hopefully my DP will get an increase like yours did.

Thanks so much Ysettle4!
The Diamond Preferred does have a laundry list of benefits (many/most are 'standard' for all Citi cards, though) and I think there's a 'concierge' benefit, but honestly at a glance the only thing that stuck out as useful to me would be the price rewind (which again you can get on other Citi cards). Perhaps ironically, since this card has no cash rewards I'm not likely to use it for purchases, which means I'm extremely unlikely to use the price rewind... LOL.
I got the card straight-up for the 21 months at 0%. I chose it over the Simplicity since I've read the Diamond Preferred is easier (sometimes?) to PC to a Double Cash... the Simplicity also has extended 0% offers but since that's all I was really after anyway I went with one with the best 'rep' as far as being easy to PC goes.
Thanks again!
(Note: if you decide to app for the Diamond Preferred be sure you get the 21 month/0% offer... the number of months can vary. My mailed offers were for fewer months, so I applied online with an offer for the full 21 months.)
