@Anonymous wrote:Hi all, I was recently FINALLY approved for a Citi double cash card (3rd time is the charm, lol) with a limit of $5,300. From what I have gathered from this forum that is a decent limit, but I wouldn't mind having a bit more.
I applied online, I wasn't immediately approved, I received a letter, and had to send in proof of income. I followed up on the phone after a week and the rep told me I was approved for 5,300. I asked the rep if I could have a higher limit and they said I could call back after I received the card.
I'm assuming I probably have to wait 6 months or a year before I can request a limit increase, and I'm assuming at that time they may do another hard pull on my credit. Anyone know if it is possible to get a credit limit increase right off the bat? If its possible I'd like to get the limit increased now and possibly eliminate another hard pull from them in the future.
For reference my Fico score 848 and I have had a citi costco card for about 2 years. No recent hard pulls in the last 2 years except for a Bank of america cash rewards card that I applied for at the same time as this card. Thanks for any info.
Citi tends to be a bit tight-fisted with SL in general and $5300 is a good one for this card.
If you request a review to increase it after you get the card it's a near-certainty that it will cost you another HP.
Normal protocol is to request a CL every 6 months online via the luv button which uses a SP and you can then request they review using an HP. Citi typically will warn you if a request will generate an HP.
Under Card Services>Request Credit Line Increase:
"It's easy to find out if you qualify for a credit limit increase. A credit bureau report will not be requested and you will receive an instant decision."
My citi double cash card acceptance speech:
"First off I would like to thank the accadamy, my 7th grade drama teacher, my friends and family, and most of all, the myfico.com forums"
*wrap up music begins playing*
Everyone can help themselves to the refreshments above as we celebrate my approval. Don't worry, I got 2% cash back on the bottle of Louis the XIII ( assuming I ever pay it off)

I am surprised they asked for POI. Do you mind disclosing what you listed on the app?
I just realized something, I quit my previouis job in early January and Started my new job in late Febuary. I'm not sure how they check employment or how up to date their record are, but it may have appeared that I was unemployed on their end? Maybe a recent gap in employment triggers something? Either way, I sent them my 2018 W2 tax form from my previous job where I no longer work and they accepted it.

CONGRATS on your Approval and the Very Nice SL!!!
I have the Citi AAdvantage card and I was able to successfuly request a SP CLI after my 2nd statement was cut.
I take it this is done through the website/app?I used the website.
I will keep an eye out for that. Does it tell you specifically whether or not it will be a hard or soft pull when you request the limit increase?
The CLI request instructions indicate an SP for the request.
