My Fico,
Thank you first of all for taking the time to read this and help me out. I am in the military, got out of active duty and am now a cadet. I made a lot of stupid mistake when I was younger with my credit, Point being, I have not applied for anything nor would I get approved since 2011. I just pulled up all three Fico Scores and they are as follows: TU 613 Equifax 589 Experian 597. I just became a member at Navy Federal Credit Union and have read a lot of positive things on people getting approved with similar credit score to mine. Honestly, I am trying to fix my credit after having some stability in my life finally, and don't want a hard inquiry unless I have a good chance of getting approved. I don't need this card, I just want it to help my credit score out. What do you guys think I should do? Apply? Not apply? I also just got Lexington Law Firm three days ago to help me with some wrongful reporting on my credit reports.
Thanks in Advanced!
Emmanuel
I don't think NFCU will approve you with those scores. I don't have any experience with them, but I have seen people with higher scores post denials. At your score range, a secured card is probably a good option. Get a secured card, use it at least sparingly, and build your credit back up slowly.
Need more info on your profile. How many baddies? Do you have TLs in good standing?
You may be able to get some of the wrong reporting corrected yourself without having to pay legal fees. Read the advice threads.
Good luck!
1. I would cancel Lexington Law NOW!
All they are going to do is send disputes to each credit report agency for the old baddies (you can do online in seconds yourself and if you want to pay any of the past baddies you can call them up and make settlement offers.
2. Do you currently have anything open in good standing?
3. What are the baddies and how old are they?
Cancel Lexington Law.
They can't do anything you can't do for yourself. Please don't give them free money.
NFCU will go HP crazy on EQ. They might give you $500 on a CC with those scores. Maybe not. Need to know a bit more about your reports.
HI there and thanks for the advice.
Well I am absolutely aware that I can read through my three credit reports, then read all the acts and military acts to try and figure out with to leverage to obtain a removal, but I honestly do not have that kind of time. I work 50 hours a week and go to school. It just isn't realistic for me to do it myself.
As for the badies, I had a repo in 2011 that paid itself so zero balance, and two credit card charged off in 2011. One account in 2012 for a cell phone bill. And most recently two collection accounts that I just noticed opened in my name for two of the debts from 2011. One is small, $80, so I will be handling that today with a pay to delete that I can hopefully obtain. The other well is in the $700 from one of the credit cards and I think I leave that one to lexington.
As for the positive ones, I have 18 positive accounts, 13 being from 2009-2011. Five are student loans in from 2013-2014 that are reporting positive.
Hope that paints a better picture of what I'm dealing with here.
Thanks for everything guys!
I decided to apply today to see where I stand and I GOT APPROVED FOR $10,000!!!!!
I cannot thanks Navy Federal Credit Union enough for a 2nd chance.
Guys, my score were not the highest, TU 597, EX 613, EQ 589. I did have 18 positive accounts but still. I highly recommend them if you are military with a $40,000 anual income or higher!
Congrats on that approval! Use it wisely and watch those scores go up! Slow and steady.
