Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
Some don't even take the time to read each one, they just post to up their post count..
I started my rebuilding 8/14 as well and both my QS cards are 1,300 each, I also submitted my request for a CLI to the EO and it's been 2 weeks and nothing yet..
Good luck on your CLI request
You can just request a CLI increase online. Login to Capitalone and under "services" click the "Request Credit Line Increase"
I too started rebuilding around 10/14 and currently have 3 cards with Capital One
1x Platinum started @ $500, then I requested an increase before my 'credit steps' was up, and got an additional $1000, then in a month, got an additional $500 for completing credit steps, so total is $2k
1x Platinum started @ $500, requested an increase online and got an additional $1k, so total is $1.5k (still in credit steps)
1x QuickSilver One @ $500, requested increase and got an additional $1k, so total is $1.5k (still in credit steps)
So you really don't have to wait for the '5 monthly payments on time' to actually request an increase, I did it within the 2nd month I had the card and got approved.
Good luck!
Thank you...ok, i'll just wait to hear from the EO in a few weeks...thanks for the post.
I've only recieved 1 increase of $100 on both cards before the credit steps.
How long is the next one?
Do you guys use you cards alot then pay off the balances?
Just want some tips once Cap1 reviews my file...I might not be using my cards much..
When my cards were @ $500 limits, I would use about 40-60% and pay them off. I sometimes made more than 1 monthly payment at a time. I never kept a high balance for too long but just showed them that I use my cards frquently and make large payments.
I use it for my 7-11 runs in the morning to work, gas, etc..pay them all back..I kind of use it like my debit card, but rotate the few cards that I have and pay pay pay...
They have been very nice with the increases even before completing my credit steps program. I did however, get denied for the Capital One Venture card :~(
maybe after a year of goof payments I'll reapply..
thank you turkey310...how many steps are in the credit steps?
Credit Steps is a program for designated customers who successfully complete a series of steps to receive access to a higher credit limit. You will be disclosed a pre-qualified credit line amount above the initial credit line. You may be eligible to access the full pre-qualified line if you complete the following steps:
Activate and use (any activity that would create a payment due) the card within the first 5 months of the account opening. Make the first five monthly payments on time.
Credit Steps provides a one-time credit limit increase. Once receiving the credit limit increase, you are no longer part of the Credit Steps program.
The credit limit will be adjusted to the pre-qualified amount by: The 7th billing statement if you do not miss a required step.
The 10th billing statement if you miss only one required step.
The adjustments will be made as follows:
If you initial credit line is above $500 then the full pre-qualified credit line is the initial credit line plus an additional $500. Once you complete the five payments on your account you'll see a automatic increase in the 7th billing statement. Some helpful things to keep in mind so you may be eligible are to make your payments on time, avoid exceeding your credit limit, don't have any returned checks, and abide by your customer agreement.
Congratulations!
