Since I was declined for the Amex BCP due to a 25+ year old account closure: https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Card-Applications/Should-I-apply-for-Amex-BCP-or-wait-2-more...

I went with the CreditOne Amex with 5% gas, grocery, internet, and phone (1%everything else) - Aproved for $1k SL - pulled experian

Are you sure you were approved for their AMEX?

The Credit One card that gives 5% on gas, grocery, internet and cable is the Platinum X5 Visa...and while it does offer that 5%, it's only 5% of the first $5,000 of spend each year (1% after that)...and it comes with a $95 annual fee.

The Credit One AMEX has an AF of $39 and only earns 1% across the board (no limit).

I'd double check which Credit One card you were approved for...just to be safe on the details.

I'm sure, American Express referred me to the following offer after they declined me for one of their primary network cards: https://www.creditonebank.com/pre-qualification/data-entry/index?C1BSourceID=KRAX_CS_05&C1BDescripto...

Experian and credit karma have also offered that creditone Amex to me.

At $5k per year at 5%cb it will mostly be a dedicated grocery and gas card. I'll use a 2%cb everything or a 1.5%cb everything  after I hit the max annual qualifier.

Note: the Amex Bcp I was declined for had 6% on $6k per year with $95 af.

So the 5% on $5k per year with $95 af isn't too much of a difference.

Re: CreditOne AE 5% / Synchrony MC 2%

Update: The CreditOne AE 5% card has been mailed and should arrive any day now.

------

The Synchrony 2% everything was declined.

Reasons:

Too many inquiries

Not enough high limits in file

-------

Off to the garden for 1 year this time around to let a bunch of HPs age past 12 months before I app again.
