Decent Merrick SL

Got a pre-approved offer with an initial SL of $800 that will go to $1600 with the 7 on-time payment deal. This is one of the higher limits I've seen them hand out, so I thought why not. Won't be keeping this for too long, but it will serve it's purpose for now.

Scores: EQ 610 / TU 648 / EX 659

I *think* they pulled TU on me.

I have a BK 7 that was discharged 01/2017.

Hope this helps someone.Merrick.jpg

Re: Decent Merrick SL

Congrast.  Merrick is a decent rebuilding card depending on the terms you get I enjoyed them while I had them as long as you PIF so you don't get hit by their high interest then it is one of the better rebuilder cards out there and they offer you a FICO score as well for free.  What were the terms of your offer being AF or not AF and if AF how much?  Thanks

I would also dump the FP and Milestone cards now that you got this one.

Re: Decent Merrick SL

I hear about people saying to dump this card or that one, but isn't it better overall to get at least 1 year of history or so on a card before dumping it as to not make AAoA out of whack? I suppose the $4 a month could bother some people, but I probably waste that much in a day once in a while.

As far as Merrick goes, I was not lucky enough to get the no AF option. I believe it is $49 (yikes) and is taken out of your SL the first month. So might as well keep this up until the 12 month mark since it's already paid for 1 year ha.

With regars to Merrick 49 isn't horrible. Just make sure you PIF and see what your scores are like at the year mark.  Most likely you will be able to cancel the merrick card before it hits the year.

W/regards to FP and the other one I said to close AAoA keeps growing for 10 years after the cards are closed the damage is done on a AAoA hit right when approved for the card so cancelling the two cards I mentioned in my first post will do no harm to your credit what-so-ever.  Only thing is could hurt your score if you are carrying balances being utilization.  If utilization is good don't blink an eye at closing them.  Hope this helps

You can also try to see if you pre-qualify by going online. I did and was approved with no letter:
