Delta Gold American Express Approved... Hard pull/Soft pull... 2nd card ??

Greetings All,

Newbie here to the forum.

Surprised and excited to get approved for my 1st

AMEX card (with an EX 658 & high UTIL ratio).

Viewed different threads about getting a 2 for 1 off

the same Pull.

- Not sure exactly what this details?

- Difference between hard and soft pulls?

- Which AX card?

- Timeline to do such?

- Is it to my advantage?

Again, so suprised to be approved. Because I used their

Pre-Qualify 60 seconds site initially; and received no official

offers, just 'welcome to apply' banners.

Yet I applied via the Delta.com link, inserted my Skymiles #

and was told my card will arrive in 3-5 business days.

Nonetheless, I don't have a problem with "crawling before

I walk". Show my worthiness. And then apply for the _____ card?

by American Express 6 months down the road.

Congratulations on your Amex approval.

Being a cardholder now, if you apply for another one it will be a SP for a denial, and possibly for another approval.  If you want a charge card from them, you could two approvals in one day, but another credit card with Amex would mean you need to wait at least 5 days for another approval.

Treat them well, and they can grow big for you. One thing they do not like though is high utilization on their accounts

Mind sharing your SL with us? (Starting limit). Also is it to your advantage you ask. Well thats up to you. Do you need any more credit/can you handle more credit? Etc. Just read these forums and you will learn all you need to know about credit.

If you apply for another card the same day you got approved. They normally combine hard pulls.

If not doing a same day app as approval. being new to amex, you should wait ~30 days from the day the card was opened. After your FICO score updates when logged in to have a chance at a SP for new credit.

There’s a lot of data points suggesting new accounts are a SP if declined for existing members, and a HP if approved. But in my experience. I app’d under 30 days of new card membership with no previous cards and received a HP. Called Amex to ask why and was told what I said above about waiting for the FICO score to update.

There’s also been a lot of data points lately that SP will be done for approval. But from what I’ve read. This seems to be the case with strong scores and not mid 600’s.

As far as applying for a new card. If you received a 500-1000 SL on the card. I would advise to wait 6 months atleast before applying for more credit through them. Those starting lines are normally given to barely approved applicants.

Hello All,

Still havent recieved the card in the mail yet? Nonetheless, my

online acct shows $1000 SL. I also believe I did not get any

welcome bonuses to my knowledge?

Got over anxious (in the same 24hr window) and went for the PRG

only to get Declined. Arghhhh... shoulda 'pumped my brakes' 1st,

pay down my high Util's and tried for any additional cards down

the road.

Oh well, ya live and ya learn. Atleast I have my foot in the AX door. Time

to Garden up.

Congrats on the Delta Gold Skymiles Card!! Welcome to the AMEX family!! I recently got approved as well for the same card. Now that I’ve had it for a while, I also (although SUPER excited to be apart of the family) am looking for the next best thing (i.e. The Platnium AMEX).

For me, I will be waiting for a few more months and then I am going to pull the trigger on that card. From what I’ve researched, AMEX does not really have a requirement on a card. If you can get a Gold Delta then you should be okay to get an EveryDay Car or something else and not have an issue.

... and I have also heard that a current customer applying for another card is a SP if you were denied.
