I was gardening hoping for auto CLIs on a couple of cards but I really wanted the Diners Club card - mainly for the perks. I app'ed for the Premier card last Saturday and was instantly approved but I didn't know the CL. I was hoping for 15-20K or at least 10K. I couldn't wait for the letter and called today to find out the CL. The CSR found my acct and the CL is 40K! I was so shocked I asked her if she was sure. Sheesh, now I wish I had gone for the Elite card.

FYI, my stats:

-6-figure income

-TU08 score: 780

-# of TU inqs: 4 (one dropping off this month)

-# of CC apps in past 6 months: 0

-CU: <6%

Congrats on your approval and great limit. It seems that perhaps they are basing the limits on income and score more than existing limits. What was your previous highest limit?

In my case (others may be different) probably true. My second highest limit is just 12K primarily I think because I applied for too many CCs in a short period of time (8 CCs in 5 months). I finally realized I needed to just garden for a while.

Starting Score: EX:570, 8/2011
Current
Scores(8/30/18):
EX08:850; EQ08:850,
TU08:847
Inqs(12 mo): EX/0, EQ/0, TU/0
Goal Scores: 800+
My Cards: BoA Rewards: 30K, Discover IT: 50K, Arrival : 13.3K, CDP: 30.1K, Amex PRG, Amex ED: 22.5K, Amex BCP: 20K, FU: 21K, CSR: 35K, Amazon Store: 20K, Macys:10K, Diners Club:40K

+1  I need to garden seriously, but can't bring myself to do it.

@I think it's more based on score, income and amount of credit available.  I just received my card today @15k.  I also just received my TU FICO from BofA which has it at 762.  I tried to do a cli with Diners and was denied due to income and amount of credit available.  The lending team actually called me back with the decision.  As you see in my Ziggy I have a lot of available credit, but I'm happy to get the 15k from them.
