That's a great point, they may reconsider or do an initial CLI if you ask, it definitely can't hurt to ask.
@Anonymous wrote:Ok, so I already asked one member for advice but hoping others can chime in. I went for disco since the pre-qual tool quoted a 11.99% apr. so I got approved but only for a $1k limit, I was going to BT on this (can't do thst now). So a few questions..
1. How fast does disco do cli's? This is my lowest credit card. The average being $6k limit and only two have limits over 8% util.
2. should I cancel or just wait it out? I have a disco that is $2,250 I should've just cli'ed but the apr us 29.99 because it was secure from when I was rebuilding.
thanks in advance for thoughts. Oh here are my dp's

I would certainly keep it open! You can try for recon on limit, but prepare for an HP.
Sorry for low limit! This is perfect example of temper expectations from lenders and limits. They'll always surprise, and better to prepare for worst possible outcome.
The card has definite potential for future growth.
An app with CU might provide result for higher limit. One that will be able to fully use for BT.
Congrats on your approval! As others have mentioned, my Dad tried to get a CLI last year and they wouldn't do it, stating that he had to wait a year. He didn't try to recon the initial limit, though, so maybe you could try that (I'd expect a HP). I'm hoping they will loosen up again.

Congratulations on your approval! I would just keep it open since you took a hard pull. In my experience with Discover I did not get a CLI after 1 year of account opening and i have been with Discover 9 years.
That's terrific! Congratulations on your approval!! 🎉🥂
It's open...enjoy!
First congratulations on getting a new Discover card. I would try calling Discover and ask to speak to credit operations and ask for an increase on your new card point out your income is over 100K, you may want to say you would be willing to give Poi if that would help. All I can say is people at Discover are nice you may be surprised Good luck, let us know what happen.
Thanks all for the feedback, I will keep it open for now and try to grow it with apr. I did call the recon number and she went and reviewed the application. It didn't dawn on me that I bought my car two months ago so that was something that counted against me and the amount of open available credit on other cards. She did see a bt offer on my other account. So I should've done a cli and then taken advantage of it there. I'm calling a few other cards to see if there are bt offers that have limits to support so I don't have to open any additional cards. Thanks for the helpful responses.
I would suggest trying to recon the SL as well. Based on the information provided in the original post, I'm quite surprised by the low $1k SL. It would almost seem to be an error if I'm being honest.
The same thing happened to my DW. 1k approval on the second IT card.
12 months before she can ask for CLI or combine. After the year mark still no CLI.
Received at least two clis on the old graduated card since opening the new one. It started as a $200 secure card and is now sitting at $7800.
I would keep and use the new card heavily for the first year for the 2x rewards. 12 months 0% is a bonus.
She hit over $400 cash back with cash match.
If we cannot get a cli on the new one in the next few months, we will transfer some over from the old card since the first card is like 25% interest and the newest card is like 12% interest.
Congratulations on your approval! I'm sure it will grow for you quickly.
