Last year I opened a new Discover card, hoping to get a larger limit but that didn't happen . Today I asked for a CLI on both my old card and my new card, as I do every month. My older card, no soup for me! But my new card spit this back at me!
Yeah, I'll take it, thanks! I had originally decided to use the crap out of the card then I changed my mind and decided to balance transfer almost the maximum it could hold instead (Yes, I was out the BT fee but this is for science!!) to see if I could get a CLI on the limit.
Discover makes no sense sometimes. 🤷
Over a year I tried 4 times ('21 thru '22, spaced out approx. 1mo, 2mo, 7mo & 5mo) -- deny, approve, deny, approve. I don't recall my spend for each, but the last one I did put about $600-$800 on it and paid it off before that request.
Discover seems to be one that likes lots of spend before they open the purse strings. I haven't gotten an increase in forever mostly because I have better cards to use now
