Discover It Secured Approved!

In the process of getting my credit rehabilitated, I'm currently in my 2nd year of optometry school and I've been wanting to get my credit fixed for when I graduate and get back to the real world.

Below is my timeline:

01/10/2021:

Decided to see if I would be pre-approved for anything with Discover

Credit scores at the time were:

(FICO 8) EX 614 / EQ 580 / TU 625

After getting denied with capital one, (and even for a CLI on my current Cap1 card) I was pre-approved for a Discover It Secured!

Decided to finish submitting the application and recieved a hard pull (EX) and was asked to provide banking info and deposit amount.

01/11/2021:

Decided to put $2,000 security deposit down to have better credit limit and optimize better credit utilization and I got this message:

"Congratulations! Your new card will be on its way once your security deposit has fully cleared. You should get your card in about two weeks."

01/13/2021:

Just checked this morning and saw the $2,000 pending withdraw out of my bank account this morning.

Will update once I recieve my email of when my card will arrive!

Very excited to get back onto being more financially responsible! 😄

Sorry to hear about the C1 denial... however I think Discovers secured card is a better product.

@bicboiOD That's awesome! Just remember, they WILL make you sign a Tax Authorization Form through Equifax. This is a requirement. BUT after you sign it, if you'll just upload 2-3 Bank Statements, they'll do an official approval within 5 days!!! (They only care to verify your identity. Balance does NOT matter).

@Anonymous Maybe things have changed since I got my Discover Secured card in June, but I didn't have to sign any tax authorization form or 4506-t.
