Congrats on your Approval 🎉🎉

Fantastic, good luck in your rebuild and welcome to myFico ![]()
Congratulations on your Discover approval!
Thank you everyone for the greetings! Does anyone have any tips on how to really maximize the "responsible" use of the card specifically for Discover?
I plan on always paying in full and making sure to pay before the statement closes, I also do plan on making an additional security deposit to get the full max $2500 credit limit but if and when the card graduates after the ~8 month mark, do they usually like to see heavy usage of the card with no balances carrying over, etc?
(In otherwords what is the likeihood of getting a CLI upon graduating if my secured CL was $2.5K)

Congratulations!
Congrats on your Discover card Approval. I started with the Discover Secured card in 2016 with $200 limit, today my card is unsecured and my Limit is $1800. I would suggest that after your first statment cuts call customer service which is top notch IMO and ask for a product change to the Cash back card 5% with revolving catiegories. They match 100% for the first year. I used my Discover card exclusivley for the first year and earned a little over $300 and with the match is was $600. I honestly can say enough positive things about Discover and it played a major part in my rebuilding process.

Congrats on your graduation! That's great to hear! I've heard so much great things about Discover Secured and I definitely will use it pretty heavy.. I already spend nearly more than the current CL monthly with just my debit card, so with this I hope to definitely get a high return on the 100% match CB.

Awesome. Is this the card you applied for?
2% cash back
At gas stations and restaurants on up to $1,000 in combined purchases each quarter.2
Plus, earn unlimited 1% cash back on all other purchases
If it is you will need to call to product change to the the 5% Cashback with revolving categories. They won't change you over until after your first statement.

Yup the Discover IT Chrome Secured, I'm aware that I need to call to get a PC to the 5% cashback on quarterly categories after the 1st statement cut, but not sure if I would get the most benefit out of it after reviewing the cashback calendar. I'm in grad school and with this pandemic I don't really drive as much so I wouldn't utilize the 2% on gas, BUT I do order a lot Uber Eats (no shame
) so not sure if I should stick with the 2% chrome or try and PC for the 5% CB (which I would probably only use for the 5% on the last two quarters of the year)
