Thanks to the person who found it. I always thought that it's just a coincidence or a fluke that people end up with CLIs after hanging up on CLI request over phone. I was so WRONG, last night I decided to try it out, carrying 6250 on a 7900 CL. After submitting my info, it came back as "Need more info, transferring to a CSR", at that point I hung up the call. Woke up this morning with CL of 9500 ![]()

Edit: I found it, but, I pushed the button to increase limit, but it said "please hold for an account manager" right away. :/ didn't work.
It doesn't work all the time.
My theory, for those cases that work, is that you have some authorization and they want to transfer you to confirm information or the amount you want (just in case is lower than what the system has). If you don't have any CLI on the system, it will not increase your limit.
I agree that it doesn't always work. It didn't work when I tried it awhile ago. For reference though I had a zero balance and that may have been why. Discover is much quicker to give CLI's if you have a balance when you ask.
I don't think the phone trick is any kind of magic, I think if you would have tried online at the same time, it would have worked too. Just because you call is not going to override anything if you aren't eligibile for an increase at the moment, IMO.

True, I don't think it will work everytime but it's definitely a way to get one (when it's available). I don't think they were going to give me this increase on their own.
Second, the online increase option has never been available to me in 4 years of owning this card.

Congrats! Option isnt available for me yet but today is only day 90 since approval. Seems like patience is key with Discover for some so I'm content to observe and see how things go for the next year or two.

Yeah keep trying. Online option is never available to me.
Online or Automated Phone is never been available for me either since first approval or now 16 months later. Darn ole dummy Disco ![]()
