I'm curious.  What are your scores like? And do you know your utilization?

My scores (before the HP's) are/were:  725 EQ, 713 TU, and 706 EX.

My overall util is at 25%.

And dang it all, they pulled EQ.  Everyone wants to pull EQ for me.  I have so many inq's on there and ONE on my TU.

What is your total $ outstanding? How much of a balance are you carrying on each card?

High Bal Jan 2009 $116k on $146k limits 80% Util.
Oct 2014 $46k on $127k 36% util EQ 722 TU 727 EX 727
April 2018 $18k on $344k 5% util EQ 806 TU 810 EX 812
Jan 2019 $7.6k on $360k EQ 832 TU 839 EX 831
March 2021 $33k on $312k EQ 796 TU 798 EX 801
May 2021 Paid all Installments and Mortgages, one new Mortgage EQ 761 TY 774 EX 777
April 2022 EQ=811 TU=807 EX=805 - TU VS 3.0 765

Yeah, those scores are good and your utilization is nothing crazy?  Something tells me that I will not be app'ing for the Discover anytime soon with those terms?

I must admit, I was wondering if you were just that person that was whining and had a bunch of baddies?  But, early 700s and 25% utilization doesn't seem to warrant 23% interest rate.

Good luck on your approvals though.

Cap One gave me 23% on the QS card and I had ~750 scores and 3% util.  It's SD, not because of the interest rate, but because I have better cards Smiley Happy

No sir, only one baddie left now and it's set to drop off this year finally, thank God.  An old collection I paid (had to, but didn't want to)  but knew nothing about til I tried to buy my house- my ex had gone to urgent care right before the divorce was final and the so-n-so listed me as the responsible party.  My score has come from the depths of hell I would imagine from that marriage (also from hell).

Re: Discover it approval but feeling "buyers remorse"

I feel that way after each app and I don't apply nearly as often- maybe every 6 months, and only if I see something that I think I can really use. It's totally normal to feel that way. Its your moral compass conflicting with the excitement of the moment. once you conquer, your morality takes over and makes you look at the downside.

I made an error.  Prior to additions of CLI and new cards, my util was 28%.  New stuff incl it's at 17.4%.   As follows:

Balance/Limit :

USAA:  4500/15000

NFCU:  5500/25000

AMEX Delta Gold:   900/27000 (was 9000 limit)

Flagstar:    8000/14000 (this has 0% and was also used as a BT)

Cap1 QS:  0 /2100

VS:   0 /1400

__________________________New additions below_______________

Marriott Rewards. Premier:  0 / 12000

AMEX BCP:  0/ 7500

Discover it:  0/ 4500

Ok, so I waited and waited for my 181 day Amex CLI and got it (yay!).  Then I got loopy and app'd for the Amex BCP, got it (yay!)  Those were the two biggies on my list I'd waited for today for.  I had hemmed and hawed about maybe app'ing for the Discover it, but eventually decided against it because I'm trying to be careful to not get too greedy or whatever.  But then I must have still been loopy from all the Amex love that I did it.  I pulled the trigger on Discover.  I got approved, $4500 limit, but I'm feeling remorseful, like I should have just left well enough alone.  Smiley Sad

I know it's supposed to be exciting, but I'm wishing I could take it back now.  (Thinking about another HP and the limit is "ok" but the APR is insane after the 0% runs out and boy, you'd better believe I'll either fight that tooth and nail or I won't touch that card after that point.  They're out of their minds)

Does anyone else ever go through this or do I just need to stop whining and go to bed?

EDIT:  Ooops, shoot.  I guess I need to stop whining and go to bed, I just saw I put this in the wrong thread/category!  I'm sorry!  Geez, shoulda went to bed early!

Yes, especially when terms aren't very good.. But it's still a good card that several swear by with rotating categories and shop discover! Congrats, just make sure to PIF monthly and the CL/terms won't matter.

If anyone needs me I will be In The Garden. Goal Score: 760 for all in 2015.
Current FICO Scores EX: 715 EQ: 756 TU: 762
Last APP April 21, 2015.

Very true.  I've heard so many good things about it, which is what made me consider it to begin with.  I don't like app'ing for no reason, and only consider cards I think would be of value to me, much like what scorewatcher7 said.  In fact, I didn't bother adding any new cards for a long time, so really I should have a grove of trees from gardening!!  (Hmmm.... maybe there is lumber value there now!)  Smiley Wink

I guess the past year has been my most active in the credit card industry, also a contributing factor to my scores not being better.
