Discover unsecured at 15th statement

Took 15th months but they finally unsecured it. Got it at $200, never added any more money to it. At graduation they raised my limit from $200 to $2,500. I think people are right about Discover getting jealous, as they just happened to unsecure after I got 4 new unsecured prime cc's. The highest limit of which being, you guessed it, $2,500. It probably would've unsecured faster if I hadn't had it maxed out for 3 months due to school bills. I had gotten it right when I turned 18 along with a Wells Fargo secured. Discover showed my Transunion FICO at 722 at graduation. I think keeping it charged once a month with a $7 lunch and then PIF after statement cut for the last 3 months is what did the trick. I'm not getting my hopes up about the Wells Fargo card being unsecured anytime soon due to their reputation. Scores at the moment are 680 TU, 671 EQ, and AMEX shows my EX FICO at 691.

Re: Discover unsecured at 15th statement

I had applied for the Freedom Unlimited during my spree and got denied. They're pretty picky, I wasn't even close to being 5/24. Too bad for them, I got approved by Citi, Cap One, Baxter Credit Union, and even Amex.

Nicely done! Mine secured after 14 months last week, same here, $200 deposit, I got my check back btw in under a week. They are quick with the deposit refund.

And congrats big time on the CL increase, they denied me on mine. My scores are a bit lower than yours. But certainly not in the complete doghouse and I've been perfect for 2 years with everything else on my report and keeping low balances.

They are a tricky one to figure out Discover, but it's good to see more unsecured cards popping up.....I feel like everyone really waits a while for that to unsecure.
